Silver Plated Pristine Platter
This is a one-off find.
And holy guacamole is she intricate. So if you watched our stories, you may remember that I thought this was solid silver. Turns out I found a really good silver plate. This was made by William Hutton who is actually the guy who invented silver plating.
Most modern silver plating is light as a feather, flimsy, and not that ornate. One of the reasons I thought this was real. Because this is an original W.H. piece (not the later pieces stamped W.H. & Sons) it is from the 50s, meant to impersonate silver (so it's extremely heavy), and is very ornate to go with the style of the time.
Basically, this is a beautiful silver plated platter at a steal of a price.
